Mycobacterium paraffinicum

O Mycobacterium paraffinicum é uma espécie de micobactéria de crescimento lento descrita em 2008. Por vezes incluída no grupo do M. avium e M. intracellulare, era confundida até passado recente com o M. scrofulaceum.

Neste corte observa-se lesões de morfologia variada, que inclui nódulos centrolobulares (círculo), nódulos maiores (seta vermelha) e bronquiectasias (seta branca). As lesões possuem distribuição difusa por todo o pulmão, podendo-se notar a redução do volume da língula (seta amarela) e do lobo médio devido à maior concentração de lesões nessas regiões.

Mycobacterium paraffinicum is a species of slow-growing mycobacteria described in 2008. Sometimes included in the M. avium group and M. intracellulare (MAC complex), it was confused until the recent past with M. scrofulaceum.

This cut tomographic are observed varied morphology of injuries, including centrilobular nodules (circle), larger nodules (red arrow) and bronchiectasis (white arrow). The changes are diffused throughout the lungs, may be noted the reduction in the volume of lingula (yellow arrow) and the middle lobe due to the higher concentration of lesions in these regions.
